Doctor from the University of Malaga, Professor of Physiotherapy at the University of Malaga. He is Director of the Clinimetry Research Group F-14 of the Institute of Biomedicine of Malaga (IBIMA F-14). He has been a postdoctoral researcher of the Ministry of Education "Young Doctors, José Castillejo" at the University of London-Roehampton (UK) during the academic year 2009-10. He has made several research stays as Visiting Professor at international centers such as the University of Brighton (UK), Leuven (Belgium) and the University of Sunshine Coast (Queensland, Australia). He is currently Adjunct Professor at Queensland University of Technology (Brisbane, Australia) and Editor of the BMC Sport Science, Medicine and Rehabilitation Journal (BMC series).
He has taught undergraduate and postgraduate courses in several Spanish universities and has supervised 22 doctoral theses. His areas of special interest are preclinical research through the integration of biomechanics and human physiology with aspects of biomedical engineering applied to human movement. He is also part of the Health Promotion Research Network funded by the Carlos III Institute (2013-7), where he has developed clinical health promotion research in chronic conditions through community physiotherapy clinical trials. He has published more than 200 peer-reviewed scientific articles with a cumulative impact greater than 200 JCR points (SSI).
He is currently focused on research, development and transfer of clinical aspects related to human movement. From the validation of indices, to the implementation of dashboards for clinical decisions, through the transfer of therapeutic exercise programs that cause high impact on chronic conditions (back pain, cancer, geriatrics, mental health, ...). To do so, they integrate the most advanced scientific methodology on biomechanics, physiology, psychometry and epidemiology of physiotherapy.
